Wilson County has strong healthcare partners who provide high-quality care for residents. Wilson Medical Center, part of the Duke Lifepoint Healthcare network, is a nearly 300-bed hospital that serves as the hub of local medical care. Its services include inpatient and outpatient care, a nursing care center, home healthcare and hospice, behavioral health services, childcare, a durable medical equipment company, a healthcare foundation, and community health programs. The medical staff includes around 100 active physicians, 90 percent of whom are board-certified, representing more than 21 specialties.

The Wilson County Health Department actively promotes public health by monitoring community conditions, offering preventative services, and providing education and recommendations to encourage healthy lifestyles. It also remains focused on providing for and sustaining healthy living conditions for the citizens of Wilson. Its partner in mental health is Eastpointe, a managed care organization dedicated to working with individuals and families in eastern North Carolina who struggle with substance abuse, mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

ECU HealthPlex-Wilson (formerly Vidant Healthplex) offers primary care, specialty services, urgent care, onsite lab, diagnostic and imaging services and a drive-thru pharmacy in a modern faciltiy of more than 30,000 square feet. It also hosts community health education programs and screenings aimed at improving health outcomes across eastern North Carolina.
